About AAES Summer Sessions
AAES Summer Sessions is a four-part summer camp designed to explore the joy of string playing through the Suzuki method, improvisation, and expressive musical techniques. Each session offers unique lessons focused on creativity, musical growth, and fun. At the end of every session, parents are invited to a special recital where students will showcase everything they've learned during camp.
Camp Overview
Beginner Sessions - The Ultimate Performer
Beginner Sessions (10-11 am) are all about having fun with Suzuki! Students will explore exciting and expressive ways to learn and practice Suzuki music. Lessons are enhanced with programmed instrumentals and rhythmic beats that make practicing at home something to look forward to. These sessions incorporate The M.A.D. System, developed by Ashanti Floyd—an innovative method designed to captivate young musicians, inspire deeper engagement, and help them develop advanced rhythmic and counting skills in a fun, accessible way. Students will be able to download these accompaniments to not only practice at home, but perform for friends & family.
Intermediate/
Advanced Sessions
Intermediate/Advanced Sessions (11:15 am - 2:15 pm) focus on developing the complete performer—building confidence through expressive string playing and improvisation. Students will explore a wide range of genres, including classical, hip-hop, pop, soul, country, rock, bluegrass, and more. They'll learn how expression and improvisation connect across all styles of music. These sessions also introduce students to both acoustic and electric instruments, with hands-on experience using pedals, amplifiers, and sound systems to expand their musical toolbox.
What to bring
All students are required to bring an acoustic instrument and a folding music stand.
Electric instruments are encouraged for students who have them, but they are optional and not required.
